Description
This barn, located approximately 150 metres east-north-east of Park Farmhouse, dates from the early to mid 18th century. It is constructed of red brick, featuring Flemish bond on the exterior and English bond on the interior. The gables are timber framed, and the roof is covered with pantiles. The barn has five bays, with a midstrey on the south side flanked by lean-to grain stores, and an opposing doorway on the north side.
There are two rows of circular vents, which are now blocked; one set is located below the eaves, and another set is in the plinth, with two vents at each level in the gable walls and two at each level beside the opposing doorways. The rear features a pair of boarded doors, with weatherboarding above the lintel. The midstrey opening has been blocked by later framing, and there are remains of pigeon holes in the weatherboarded gable above. The plinth consists of double thickness brickwork, which supports the posts carrying the five-bay roof. Inside, there are two tiers of staggered butt purlins, a ridge piece, collars, and straight bracing from purlin to purlin, with knees to the tie beams.
