Description

Grove House is an 18th-century building located on Week Street. It stands three storeys tall, constructed of brown brick on a cemented base, featuring red brick window dressings, relieving arches, and string courses above the ground and first floors. The roof is hipped and tiled, with a wooden modillion eaves cornice. The house has six sash windows, with the central window bay projecting slightly. On the north side, there is an additional window bay on the ground floor. The ground and first floors have round-headed windows with painted keystones and imposts, while the second floor features segmental-headed windows. The central first-floor window is adorned with wide red brick dressings resembling pilasters and a rusticated head. There is a porch supported by Doric columns and a projecting cornice, leading to a round-headed doorway that has a half-glazed and half-panelled door. Inside, there is a fine 18th-century staircase with three twisted balusters on each step and scrolled tread ends.
