Description
This is a finial that originally topped the main wall of the House of Commons Debating Chamber. After the chamber was destroyed by bombing in 1941, the finial was given to the citizens of Maidstone. It dates from around 1834 and is made of large limestone, featuring an octagonal shape with two stages and a crenellated band between the first and second stages. The finial has a domed top and is set on a stone plinth.
