Description
The Bell is a public house dating from the 17th century, with 19th-century additions and alterations. The front elevation features a painted brick ground floor and a tile-hung first floor, with gable ends made of painted brick in Flemish bond that slightly curve around the front. The building has a 20th-century plain tile roof, is two storeys high with boxed eaves, and has a roof that is half-hipped at both ends. There is a gault brick stack on the left hip and a projecting stack at the right end. The front has a regular two-window arrangement with three-light casements, and there is a blocked door in the centre. To the right, there is a 19th-century single-storey extension made of painted brick with a plain tile roof, featuring a tall, thin gault brick stack and a half-glazed door at the left end. At the back, there is a parallel rear range in gault brick with a plain tile roof that is half-hipped at both ends. Additionally, there is a later 19th-century long rear wing to the left that faces the lane, constructed partly of flint and partly of gault brick in Flemish bond, with a slate roof.
