Description

Cockhill Farmhouse is a 16th-century farmhouse with an 18th-century front elevation, partly located within the parish of Detling. The building is likely timber-framed and has been clad in red brick laid in a Flemish bond pattern, with a plain tile roof. The east-facing front, which overlooks the garden, has a plinth and is two storeys high. The roof is hipped at both ends. There are two brick stacks: a larger one offset to the right and a smaller one at the left end. The front has a regular arrangement of three windows, each with two-light casement frames. A later extension abuts the left side of the building. A 20th-century single-storey extension in the centre of the front contains a 20th-century door with fielded panels. A rear lean-to addition is also present.
