Description
Park Valley House is a house dating from the mid-to-late 15th century and the 19th century. It features a timber frame with rendered infilling on the ground floor and is completely rendered on the first floor. The ground floor has flint on the right side. The house has a plain tile roof and is designed as a Wealden house, consisting of two equal open hall bays with a storeyed bay on the left. There is likely a storeyed bay on the right that was rebuilt in the 19th century. The building has two storeys on a plinth, with the left end bay jettied to the front and left. The former open hall has been built out on the first floor to create a continuous jetty, with the right bay underbuilt in flint to match the right end bay. The roof is hipped to the left and gabled to the right at the junction with the 19th-century bay, which has higher eaves, a lower ridge, and a hip at the right end. There is a brick stack located on the front slope of the roof, off-centre to the right. The fenestration is irregular, featuring four one, two, and three-light casements. A 19th-century ribbed door with a segmental head is located at the right end of the timber-framed section. Inside, the house includes a steeply cambered tie-beam, a moulded crown-post, and the end of a hall beam. There is a late 16th-century inserted first floor in the hall area, and the timbers are of heavy scantling.
