Description

This building is an oasthouse located about 30 metres west of Tanner House. It dates from the 19th and early 20th centuries. The kilns are constructed of red and grey brick in Flemish bond, while the stowage at the north end is made of red brick and is weatherboarded above an open ground floor at the centre and south. The roof is covered with plain tiles.

The structure is rectangular and two-storey, featuring two kilns at the north gable end and three along the long east side, with the southern kiln being of greater diameter. There are four ground-floor bays of stowage that open to the west on posts. The kilns have cogged brick eaves cornices and conical roofs with cowls, while the stowage has a gabled roof with plain bargeboards.

On the west side of the stowage, there is a large gabled eaves dormer with double doors for loading, along with a rectangular louvred light on each side and a two-light casement towards the right end, all situated within the weatherboarded section. Each of the two northern kilns features a boarded north-west door at the base and a small boarded hatch higher up the wall.

At the south end, there is a two-storey cottage that is set back from the west side of the stowage. Inside, the kilns have slatted floors and remnants of hearths.
