Description

This monument is dedicated to John Richard Songen and is located approximately 1 yard south of the obelisk monuments to the Dunning family in the churchyard of the Church of St Mary and All Saints. It dates from the early 19th century and is made of stone on a stone base, which was formerly enclosed by railings. The monument features a small square pillar set on a moulded plinth with a corniced top. Atop the pillar is a simple urn with a concave lid that has a fluted edge and rises to a small ring topped with a ball. The south side of the monument bears an inscription commemorating John Richard Songen, who died in 1829, although the rest of the inscription is illegible as of the last survey.
