Description
This is a monument located approximately 5 yards north of the north porch of the Church of St. Mary. It dates from the late 18th century and is made of stone. The monument features a rectangular plinth with a moulded base and a corniced top, along with recessed corners that contain fluted Corinthian quarter columns. At the top, there is an urn resting on a stone base. The monument was formerly enclosed by a railing. The inscription on the west side is largely illegible, but it is dated around 1777 and attributed to J. Newman. The east side commemorates George Powelle, who died in 1853.
