Description

The monument to Richard Saxby, located 2 yards southeast of the south chapel of the Church of St. Nicholas, dates from the late 18th century. It is made of stone and stands on a double-stepped stone base. The monument is rectangular, featuring a moulded plinth and a corniced top, which is topped with a gadrooned and fluted urn that has a large ball as its lid. This monument commemorates Richard Saxby, who died in 1794.
