Description

The Unitarian Church, dated 1736, is located on the southwest side of the Market Buildings. The Rev. William Hazlitt, who was the father of the essayist and critic William Hazlitt, served as the minister of this church from 1770 to 1780. The church features a plain front made of red brick, with a moulded brick eaves cornice. It is flanked by pilasters that extend above the cornice. There are three modern cambered windows, a modern stone flat hood supported by brackets above the door, and a modern wrought iron bracket above that. The building has a plinth and retains its original pulpit and gallery inside.
