Description

The Market Buildings, dating to around 1835 and including a Corn Exchange, are a mid-19th century structure. The buildings are two storeys and have a stuccoed exterior. A parapet and coping run along the roofline, with raised panels at intervals. The right-hand portion features seven sash windows with intact glazing bars, set within moulded architraves. The ground floor is characterized by a colonnade of seven round-headed arches, flanked by engaged Tuscan columns with keystones above each arch. The central portion has four round-headed arches with blank spaces above. The left-hand side has six cambered sash windows and two blank spaces, also with seven round-headed arches.
