The Old House Barn About 35 Metres East Of The Old House

The Old House Barn, located about 35 metres east of The Old House on Queen Street in Yalding, is an 18th-century barn. It features a timber frame with weatherboarding set on a stone plinth and has a plain tile roof. The barn consists of three north-facing timber-framed bays with a central midstrey and a half-hipped roof. There are central full-height double doors on the north side and a rear lean-to. Inside, the barn has cut jowls on the principal posts, slightly concave arch braces supporting the tie-beams, and a clasped-purlin roof with slightly diminishing principal rafters made of relatively light scantling. Vertical queen struts are present at the collars, and straight windbraces are located at each end only. The studding includes almost straight tension braces.
