Description
Mirembe is a house that was once a public house and previously served as cottages. It features a facade from the late 18th century or early 19th century, although the main structure is likely older. The building is timber framed and covered with beaded weatherboarding, topped with a plain tile roof. It has two storeys and an attic, set on a rendered plinth, and is adorned with a moulded wooden eaves cornice and a half-hipped roof. A central brick ridge stack is present, along with two small hipped two-light dormers. The front has a regular arrangement of two windows, consisting of three-light casements with shutters and small-paned casements on the ground floor. There are blocked doorways at both ends, and a panelled door is located in a weatherboarded lean-to porch beneath the stack. To the left, there is a later weatherboarded lean-to with a slate roof, and a rear lean-to is also present. The interior has not been inspected. The building was formerly known as The Engineer Inn, although it was incorrectly listed as The Volunteer Inn on the 1960 Provisional List.
