Description

This is a house, originally built as a row of houses, dating from the 15th or early 16th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The ground floor is constructed of red brick laid in a Flemish bond pattern. The first floor retains exposed timber studding with plaster infilling. The roof is covered in plain tiles. The building has four timber-framed bays. It is two storeys high and sits upon a brick plinth. The first floor features close-studded timbering, with a tension brace towards the right end. The roof has a shallow pitch. A tall brick stack is located on the right end of the shorter, central bay, and a projecting brick stack is found on the right gable end. The windows are irregular in arrangement and consist of four casements. A boarded door is situated beneath the stack, serving numbers 1 and 3. A further boarded door with a rectangular light is located at the left end of the right-end bay, serving number 5. The interior was only partly inspected; number 5 reveals exposed timber framing and a shutter groove.
