Description

Ladds Court is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century or earlier, with 19th-century alterations. It features a timber frame with plaster infilling, while the right return elevation is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond. The roof is covered with plain tiles and is hipped to the right, with the hip returning. The building stands two storeys high and has an apparently continuous jetty with remnants of moulding towards the right end. The structure is close-studded, with double posts towards the centre.

A large projecting stone stack is located at the left gable end, partly underbuilt in red brick, with stone slates on the broad shoulders and a rebuilt flue. There is a central rear stack and a slender projecting stack on the front elevation towards the right end. The fenestration is irregular, featuring two windows: one is a slightly projecting 3-light casement with top lights and a moulded wooden cill towards the left end, and the other is a small 4-pane sash towards the centre.

To the right of centre, there is a close-studded porch, likely largely from the 19th century, which has a projecting moulded cornice supported by curved piped brackets. The building includes moulded 4-centred arched doorways on the front and right side, with moulded jambs leading to a ribbed inner door. The right return elevation has a regular four-window front of recessed 12-pane sashes, with blind boxes on the ground-floor windows. There are 19th-century additions at the rear. The interior has not been inspected.
