Description

This is an oasthouse with an attached granary and stable block, located about 17 metres east-north-east of Ashurst Court. It was built in the early 19th century, with some additions from the early to mid-19th century. The kilns and the ground floor of the stowage are made of red brick, featuring occasional grey headers. The ground floor of the north-west projection and both floors of the granary and stable block are constructed from chequered red and grey brick, while the south-west projection is made of red brick in Flemish bond. The first floor of the stowage and the north-west projection are weatherboarded and tile-hung, with a stone plinth present on all parts except the kilns. The roofs are covered with plain tiles.

The stowage includes two conjoined circular kilns at the north end, with a slightly wider granary and stable block at the south end, which has a short bay added to the west. There is a broader projecting bay to the west at the north end of the stowage. The structure features cogged brick eaves cornices, conical roofs, and cowls on the kilns. The north-west projection and the granary have half-hipped roofs, while the south-west addition has a hipped roof. The north-west projection has a 2-light first-floor casement, and the south-west has a 16-pane light. There are blocked ventilation slits on the east side of the stables. Access includes a boarded first-floor door on the gable end of the granary and another on the east side of the stowage, along with a boarded ground-floor door to the stables and two doors on the east side of the stowage. The interior has not been inspected.
