Description

St Katherine's House is a Grade II listed building originally constructed as a house in the mid-19th century, with extensions added around 1890. The front elevation features a two-storey section from the mid-19th century, built with flint and stone dressings, and long and short quoins. It has three parallel ranges and a tiled roof with ridge tiles. The front includes four mullioned and transomed casement windows, and a central door sheltered by a hipped tiled weather porch, which has a moulded brick finial and is supported by wooden piers.

The right side portion, dating from circa 1890, is also two storeys high, with the ground floor made of flint and brick, while the first floor is pebbledashed. This section has a hipped tiled roof and casement windows. At the far right, there is a stone trefoliated window with wooden moulding above it, and a triple trefoliated window on the side elevation. The right part of the rear elevation rises to two and four storeys, constructed with flint and featuring stone quoins and window dressings. The roof is tiled, incorporating some curved tiles and moulded brick finials, with irregular fenestration. The second floor has one circular window, while the rest consists of mullioned and transomed casements, with string courses between the second and third floors.

Inside the older portion of the house, there are exposed beams with chamfered edges and a wooden staircase featuring balusters with trefoliated heads and a newel post with chamfered edges. The building is included for its group value with St Katherine's Chapel.
