Description

West Kington House is a Grade II listed building, formerly a rectory, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of rubble stone with ashlar dressings and features two hipped stone tile roofs with paired end wall stacks. The tall four-storey east front has flush quoins, a plain band cornice, and a parapet. The façade includes a two-window range with glazing bar sashes set in flush surrounds, nine-pane attic lights, and twelve-pane windows on the second floor. The first floor has tripartite windows with a 4-12-4-pane configuration and segmental heads, along with an iron flower balcony on the left. The ground floor features a 4-12-4-pane tripartite window and a mid-19th century canted bay made of ashlar with a glazed door.

Flanking the main structure are two-storey wings, each with a single window range and hipped stone tile roofs. These wings have plain cornices, with a parapet present only on the right side. The first floor windows on these wings are nine-pane, while the right side of the ground floor has a 4-12-4-pane segmental-headed tripartite window. At the south end, there is a single-storey range with a slate roof. The north end features a first-floor canted bay above a projecting ashlar porch, which has a cornice and parapet, as well as a Roman Doric doorcase. The rear of the house has a four-storey, three-window range with nine-pane attic windows and twelve-pane windows elsewhere, along with a central projecting two-storey bay topped with a parapet.
