Description

The Manor House is a Grade II* listed house located in Droxford, dating from the late 16th century with alterations from the 17th and 18th centuries, along with some minor changes in the 20th century. The building features brick walls laid in English bond with a high plinth, chamfered reveals around the window openings, and drip-moulds on the first and second floors. Some sections are in Flemish bond with blue headers, and there are stone cills and coping on the parapet. The roof is tiled, showcasing prominent gables and hips on the rear extensions, along with massive rectangular stacks that have separate triple diagonal flues.

The house is L-shaped with lower extensions within the angle and has a symmetrical Jacobean west front elevation characterized by two gables separated by a parapet, two storeys, and an attic with three windows. It features casements and triple sash windows. A traditional brick porch from the 20th century, complete with a gable, fanlight, and coupled doors, is present at the entrance. The north elevation includes a central gable flanked by large stacks, with ground-floor service wings projecting on either side, small casements, and one large sash window. The other elevations are irregular, displaying 18th-century sashes and a two-storeyed south bay from around 1900, which has mullion and transom windows.

Inside, the upper floor reveals exposed timber framework, and there are sections of 17th-century oak panelling. The main staircase is late Georgian, but older details of a staircase remain in the upper part at the rear.
