Description
The Old Rectory is a house, likely of older origin but mainly dating from the late 18th century. It features walls made of colourwashed brickwork in Flemish bond with blue headers, a plinth, a deep first-floor band, and rubbed flat arches. The hipped tile roof is adorned with a modillion cornice and flat-roofed dormers. The building has two symmetrical facades forming an L-shape, which conceals irregular and older structures within the angle.
The north front elevation has a slightly projecting center crowned by a parapet, which is raised in the center above a panel. It has two storeys and an attic with three windows on the first floor and one on the ground floor. The first-floor windows are sashes in exposed frames, while the ground-floor sashes are in reveals and feature interior shutters. A Tuscan doorcase includes a blocking course above the entablature, half-columns, and encloses an arched opening with a Gothic fanlight, leading to a seven-panelled door (two of which are glazed).
The east elevation is similar, with two storeys and an attic, featuring five windows and an additional thinner band that is broken by the first-floor cills. The first-floor windows are sashes in exposed frames, while the ground-floor windows are in reveals. Within the angle of the building, there is a tall unit with upper walls that are tile-hung, and lower units that consist of two storeys and an attic with irregular fenestration.
