Description

SU 61 NW DROXFORD THE SQUARE 7/32 Garden wall to the Manor House GV II A high wall on three sides of the garden. Late C17 and early C18. The west section of the south wall is of flintwork with a brick capping: this changes to a brick wall with plinth and three panels of flintwork: the next section is mainly flintwork with a large brick weathered capping above brick dentils, and is broken by two large brick gatepiers surmounted by pineapples. Further east the wall changes to brickwork (C17) of Flemish bond with blue headers, with a massive capping: this pattern continues northwards (the east wall) with a central gateway of brick piers with ball finials. The wall returns on the north side, of similar form, and ends near the north-east corner of the house.
