Description
The Old Vicarage is a 17th-century building that was modified in the 19th century. It is timber-framed and was originally faced with rendered infill on the first floor, with red brick to the ground floor. The roof is tiled and gabled at both ends. The building is rectangular and has two main floors plus an attic. A 19th-century porch with a lean-to tiled roof sits at the front. There are three windows of mixed types on both the ground and first floors, and three dormer windows with gabled tiled roofs. A projection of a heavy diagonal beam is visible at the southwest corner, indicating original jettying to the south and west fronts, although this was reduced by the addition of a brick skin in the 19th century. Further details are recorded in Architectural Cant, Volume 27, pages 197.
