Description

This is a pair of houses, numbers 15 and 17 Clifton Crescent, built around the middle of the 19th century in Folkestone. The houses are three storeys with a basement and attics, and are stuccoed with a slate roof. There are four dormers and two further dormers on a second attic level. Number 17 now has a modern three-storey extension. The original portion of the building features two-sash windows with three-light bays. The building has rusticated quoins and stringcourses separating the floors. The second-floor windows are round-headed, while the first-floor windows have architraves; the central windows of each bay have pediments over them, and the side windows have cornices. Iron flower guards are present on the ground and first floors. The ground-floor windows have cambered heads with keystones. The doorway of number 15 has been blocked, and number 17 has a later porch. Numbers 15 and 17 contribute to a group value with numbers 1 to 11 (odd) and number 12B, and with numbers 15 to 31 (odd) along Clifton Crescent.
