Description

This barn, located about 23 metres north of Mercer Farm House, dates from the late 16th century or early 17th century. It is timber framed and weatherboarded, standing on a 19th-century brick plinth. The roof is hipped and covered with corrugated iron, featuring gablets. A central porch is positioned on the south side, with a lean-to canopy. The barn is oriented at right angles to the road. The interior, which was only briefly inspected, consists of three and a half timber-framed bays. There is a midstrey in the second bay from the east, with jowled posts, arch braces, and curved passing shores. The roof structure includes clasped purlins with diminishing principal rafters and windbraces.
