Description
Manor House Cottage is a 17th-century building that was originally a house or house and workshop, now functioning as a house. It features a timber frame, with the ground floor constructed of painted brick and the principal posts exposed. The first floor is framed with two panels per bay and two panels extending to the full height of the storey, with the upper panel being shorter. The roof is covered with plain tiles. The cottage likely consists of four timber-framed bays, with the right bay being longer. It is positioned slightly set back from Elham Manor, which it adjoins on the left, and has slightly higher eaves and a lower ridge. The building has two storeys and a gabled roof, with a gable-end stack on the right side. The windows are irregularly arranged, featuring four leaded wood mullion frieze windows, some of which are still ovolo-moulded. The window arrangement includes one four-light window in the left bay, one five-light window spanning the left-central bay, one four-light window in the right-central bay, and one four-light window at the left end of the right bay. There are also four small casement windows on the ground floor and a ribbed door located in the right-central bay. The interior has not been inspected. It is likely that this house replaces the former right end of Elham Manor.
