Description
Rea Bridge Cottage is a 17th-century house located in Neen Sollars. It features a painted timber frame with painted brick and rendered infill panels, all set on a stone rubble plinth. The cottage has a plain-tile roof and a projecting rubble stone end stack with brick upper stages. The building has a two framed-bay plan with 20th-century end extensions.
The exterior is single-storey with an attic. The south-east front displays square framing that is three panels high, with a tension brace on the right, and is partly covered by projecting 20th-century windows and dormers. There is a 20th-century extension to the left. The right-hand gable end also has square framing and features a gable-end truss with a tie beam, vertical struts, and a collar, which is partly obscured by a stone stack that includes a brick bread oven. Each storey has a two-light casement window.
At the rear, the square framing is three panels high and includes a pair of straight tension braces, with two casement windows and 20th-century extensions to the right.
Inside, there is a chamfered bridging beam with stepped and run-out chamfer stops, and a truss with a collar and tie beam that is interrupted by posts. The roof is a single trenched-purlin type.
