Description

This is a group of three houses, now cottages, located on the west side of High Street in Wingham. The core of the building dates back to the 15th century, but it was re-clad in the 18th century. The structure is timber-framed and now covered with rendered brick, topped with an asbestos tiled roof. It follows a four-bay hall house plan. The building stands on a plinth and features stacks positioned centrally to the right and projecting towards the left end. It has five wooden casement windows on each floor, all with three lights, with the exception of the second bay from the left. A ribbed and stud door is located centrally to the right, and a panelled door is positioned centrally to the left. Inside, the original timber frame retains large scantling, including a large stack of a half-bay that likely originated as a smoke bay. The roof is a trussed rafter design and lacks longitudinal members. Moulded and carved wall posts support the floor joists.
