Description
Bleak Cottage is a house that was once a shop, dating from the early 19th century. It has a painted brick exterior and a slate roof. The building stands two storeys high and features a moulded eaves cornice beneath a half-hipped roof, with a stack located at the rear left. On the first floor, there are two margin light glazing bar sash windows, while the ground floor has a range of wooden casements set within a pilastered surround that includes a cornice. This area was originally designed for a door and shop windows. To the right, there is a half-glazed door framed by an elliptical surround, which is complemented by a rectangular fanlight and glazed sidelights. The glazing is similar to that found in the workshops behind the adjoining Bleak House. The cottage is included in the listing for its group value.
