Description

The cowhouse, located about 30 meters east of the walled garden complex at Betteshanger Park, dates from the late 19th century. It is constructed with a timber frame and weatherboarding, topped with a plain tile roof. The building has an F-shaped plan and is one storey high, featuring a central gabled cross-range with an attic. There is a projecting wing at the northwest and smaller projecting gables at the south end. The long, low structure has irregular wooden casements, with a total of ten on the east side, and wooden casements and half-doors on the west elevation, along with loft windows in the central gable. The interior is fitted as a 20th-century cowhouse and retains the original roof structure of large queen post trusses. This building is included for its group value.
