Description
The terrace wall and steps located to the southeast and southwest of St. Albans Court were built around 1875 and designed by George Devey. The terrace wall to the southeast is constructed from ragstone and brick, featuring brick machicolation and a cornice, with stone buttresses at regular intervals. This wall encloses a rectangular garden projection to the northeast, which is marked by brick and stone piers at the corners. To the northeast of this area, the terrace is made entirely of brick. Similar brick and stone walls and piers surround flights of stone steps that descend from the southwest end of the main terrace. A matching brick wall extends southwest from the bottom of the terrace steps and connects at a right angle to another similar wall that borders the northeast side of the garden of Old St. Albans Court.
