Description

The wall and gateways to the north forecourt of St Albans Court were built around 1875 by George Devey for William Oxenden Hammond. The main section of the wall is constructed of ragstone at the bottom and brick above, featuring a ragged edge between the two materials, along with mock machicolation and a brick cornice. At the southeast end, the wall is connected to an octagonal stone pier, which links to a lower wall that joins the north wall of St Albans Court. There is also a further pier and a low section of walling at the northwest end. The wall includes two moulded, four-centred stone gateways with dripstones, set within the wall, featuring an intermediate buttress and an additional buttress to the right. To the left is a narrow gateway, while a vehicular gateway is located to the right.
