TR 35 NW Barn immediately East of Grove Manor Farmhouse 6/400 II

Barn. C17. Weatherboarded timber frame on tarred English bond, brick plinth. Half-hipped roof clad in corrugated steel and asbestos sheets, the south west end asbestos tiles. Plain tile hipped canopies.

Plan : Large 8-bay aisled barn with threshing floors in bays 3 and 6, small C20 outshut at north east end.

Exterior : The large steeply pitched roof is carried down over the low weatherboarded aisle walls. On the north west side there are 2 cart entrances with boarded double doors and hipped plain tile canopies on arched braces, now supported on timber posts. On the left hand north east end a small C20 weatherboarded outshut.

Interior : The aisle walls are close-studded and the end walls have tension braces. Large slightly jowelled arcade posts with arched braces to the ties and arcade plates. The jowelled aisle posts support aisle ties on which there are curved shaws to the arcade posts. Common rafter roof without a ridgepiece. Collars and clasped purlins. The rafters, purlins and collars over the 2 south western bays have been replaced. The rest of the roof is obscured by large C20 grain silos.
