Description
Churchgate Farmhouse is a house dating from the mid to late 17th century. It is constructed of red brick in English bond and features a plain tiled roof. The building has two storeys and a garret above a basement, with a plinth, a plat band, and boxed eaves. The roof has shaped gables with a segment, concave sweep, and cyma outline, and there are stacks at both the left and right ends. The front has a regular arrangement of three glazing bar sash windows on the first floor and two on the ground floor, along with a central door that has two panels and a rectangular fanlight, topped by a flat hood supported by a single metal post. There are also two openings in the basement to the left and basket-arched openings on the return elevations. Historically, this property was part of the principal manor of Woodnesborough, known as Shelving Manor, which was divided in 1632.
