Description

This is a row of circa 1840 townhouses, including number 1 Maison Dieu Road, situated on Castle Street. The buildings are constructed of yellow brick, with slate roofs, some of which are mansarded. The row has a prominent cornice and parapet above the second floor. The buildings are arranged with two windows per elevation, with number 29 having an additional storey.

Number 9 features a stuccoed portico with a triglyph frieze. Numbers 15 and 17 have doorcases characterised by fluted pilasters and pediments. Number 27 features a doorcase with four pilasters, a flat cornice, and an elliptical arch. The remaining doorcases are round-headed, each topped with a semi-circular fanlight. Cast iron spear railings are present.

Numbers 1 to 53 (odd) form a group.
