Description
Woodbine Cottage is a Grade II listed cottage from the early 19th century, featuring an L-shaped design with two parallel ranges and single-storey rear wings. The front elevation is faced with wood blocks that mimic ashlar stonework, topped by a slate hipped roof with red tile ridges. The cottage is two storeys high and consists of two bays.
On the ground floor, the left bay has a mid-19th century bay window with stained glass margin lights and contemporary French casements. To the right, there is a later porch in front of the original doorway, which retains fluted quarter columns with caps from the doorcase, a six-panel door with four stained glass upper panes, and a deep and wide overlight with margin lights. The first floor features two sash windows with glazing bars and louvred shutters.
At the northern end of the east elevation, there is a tall, two-storey, one-bay wing built after 1872, which includes a full-height canted bay window with three lights. Inside, the east ground floor room has reeded architrave frames with angle blocks around the bay window and doorway to the hall, along with interconnecting rear doors and a 19th-century marble fireplace surround. The hall and landing have panelling, panelled doors, and straight baluster stairs. The doorways on the landing and the southeast first floor fireplace surround feature moulded architraves and angle blocks. The layout of the wings corresponds with the cottage and rear wings shown on the Tithe Plan of 1843.
