Description

No 2 Middle Street is an 18th-century cottage that stands two storeys high with attics and is finished in stucco. The roof is tiled and features a shaped Dutch gable at one end, along with a modern dormer. On the first floor, there is one window above an arched alleyway leading to Crown Court, and two other sash windows with intact glazing bars. The doorcase on the left side has a flat cornice and pilasters, leading to a six-panelled door, two panels of which have been cut away and replaced with glazing. There are two steps leading up to the street. This building, along with Nos 2 to 16 (even) and Chevne Cottage, forms a group with No 9 South Street and Nos 1 and 2 Crown Court.
