Description
Pilgrim Cottage is a Grade II listed cottage located on London Lane in Great Paxton. It consists of two sections and a modern addition to the west. The original structure dates from the late 17th century and is one bay in size. It is timber framed and has been cased in brick on the south side, topped with a thatched roof that features a ridge stack. The cottage is one storey with attics and has two modern windows on the south elevation. There is also a single light iron casement window from the late 17th or early 18th century and a modern doorway on the east gable end. A bread oven projects from the north wall.
Adjoining the cottage is a narrower two-bay wing from the 18th century, which is also timber-framed and rendered, with a thatched roof. This wing has two horizontal sliding sash windows on both the first and ground floors, along with a scaled central doorway. Inside the late 17th-century section of the cottage, there is a small inglenook fireplace.
