Description

Boughton Lodge Farmhouse is a mid-17th century farmhouse featuring three bays and a lobby entry. It has 18th and 19th century wings added to the east and west. The building is constructed of red brick, with the east side refronted in gault brick during the mid-19th century. It has a tile and slate roof with a ridge stack and an end stack on the south side. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has two flush wood frame hung sashes with glazing bars on each storey. The entry is located opposite the stack and features an early 19th century doorcase. There are four blocked window openings in the south gable end wall and a gabled stair turret on the west wall. The west wing, possibly dating from the late 18th century, has been altered with a raised roof and an added floor in the mid-19th century. This wing has a red brick ground floor and a gault brick first floor, painted, with a plain tile roof of shallow pitch and a range of three recessed hung sashes with glazing bars. The mid-19th century east wing is made of gault brick, has a slate roof with a dentil eaves cornice and a gault brick ridge stack. It is also two storeys high and features cambered arches over two recessed hung sashes with glazing bars, along with two similar windows at the ground floor.
