Description

Home Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century with later additions. The south and west wings are timber framed and faced with brick, while the east wing is constructed of brick and flint, partly colour washed. The building has slate roofs and is arranged in a U shape, formed from early rear additions to a lobby-entrance type farmhouse. It is two storeys high with former attics.

The main facade features four bays and a pair of lateral gables that are slightly advanced to the west. The gable bays contain two early 19th century sash windows with glazing bars at the first floor level, along with a late 19th century canted bay window to the east and modern French windows to the west. There is an off-centre raised and fielded panelled door with a simple open flat-roofed porch supported by a pair of wooden octagonal shafts. The ground floor has one plate glass sash window, while the first floor includes one two-light casement window with glazing bars and one pivot window with glazing bars. All windows have apparent wooden lintels. The roofs have been rebuilt at a shallower pitch.

The main block has an off-centre axial stack with moulded brick bases for two former octagonal shafts. The west wing, which is also from the 17th century, features a massive axial stack with a moulded brick base for a square shaft. The east wing is likely from around 1700 and shows evidence of some original long windows. The interior retains several original timbers.
