Description
The Limes is a house dating from the early 18th century, with the possibility of an earlier core. It features five windows, is two storeys high with attics, and is constructed of painted red brick, accented by a string course at the first floor. The roof is hipped and covered with double Roman pantiles, and it has flat-headed 20th-century casement dormers. Central chimneys are made of red brick. The windows are set in original openings with flat arches of gauged brick; the ground floor has 19th-century large-pane sash windows in earlier frames, while the first floor has 20th-century casements. A notable feature is the 18th-century Doric entrance doorway, which includes an enriched broken segmental pediment supported by attached columns. The doorway has a semicircular fanlight and a 19th-century partly-glazed six-panel led door, which is recessed within panelled reveals.
