Description
27 Strand Street is a timber-framed building that faces gable towards the street. It has been restored with oak boards and finished with Tyrolean plaster, and the timbers have not been treated with creosote. A small section of plaster that was preserved during renovations shows a date of 1526. The building features a modern shop front, but retains one original early 19th-century glazed door alongside a modern one. There are casement windows on the first and second floors, which include glazing bars. The roof is tiled. At the rear, there is a stone ribbed and vaulted crypt with two bays, likely dating from the late 13th century or early 14th century. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 25 to 31 (odd) and Nos 8 to 12 (even) on Potters Street.
