Description
26 High Street South is a timber-framed building that dates back to the 17th century or earlier. It was refronted in the 19th century and features a shop front from the 20th century. The building is rendered and topped with a plain clay tile roof.
It has a rectangular plan, with the front roof ridge running perpendicular to the street and the rear roof ridge parallel to it. The structure is terraced and consists of two storeys plus an attic. The gable end serves as the main elevation and is rendered. The ground floor features a late-20th century shop front, while the upper floors have 20th century sash windows on both the first floor and attic. At the attic level, there are cast-iron hopper heads and pattress plates.
