Description

48 High Street South is a late 17th-century house that underwent changes to its street frontage in the 18th century and features a 19th-century shop front. The building is made of brick, topped with a red plain tiled roof and red brick chimneys. It has a rectilinear plan with extensions at the rear.

The exterior consists of two storeys, with a ground floor shop bay window. At the first floor, there are four sash windows and a parapet. The prominent 19th-century ground floor shop bay window includes a door on the right, which is framed by a doorcase featuring Doric pilasters and an entablature with a modillion cornice.
