Description
30 High Street South is a timber-framed building that dates from the 17th century or earlier. It was re-fronted in the 19th century and has a shop front and rebuilding at the rear from the 20th century.
The building features a rendered front elevation facing High Street South, with roofs made of plain clay tiles and Welsh slate. The rear is constructed from machine-made brick from the 20th century.
It has a rectilinear plan situated on a long, narrow plot, with roof ridges running from north-east to south-west, perpendicular to the street. The exterior showcases a 19th-century brick front on a two-storey timber-framed structure with attics. The principal elevation facing High Street South has a gable end that is whitewashed brick and render. The ground floor includes a 20th-century shop front and a sash window with glazing bars on the first floor. Above, there is a flush casement window in the attic, featuring a Welsh slate roof and a cast-iron hopper head. The rear section, which faces Middle Row, has a shallower roof pitch and is built from machine-made 20th-century bricks, also with a 20th-century shop front and door.
