Description
This barn, located about 20 metres south of Heronden, dates back to the 16th century and was altered in the 18th century. It is constructed of red brick in English bond on the return elevations, resting on a base of flint and rubble. The interior features timber framing and has a plain tiled roof. The structure includes a plinth and a cornice on the return elevations, leading to a gabled roof with a hipped mid-stray. There are three tiers of ventilation slits on the return fronts and eight on the entrance front. Inside, the barn consists of five bays with aisles and has a clasped purlin and staggered purlin roof. The barn likely originated around the time the house and farm were rebuilt in approximately 1570.
