Description

Swingate Mill is a windmill tower built in 1849 for John Mummery. It features a tarred brick tower with a projecting roundhouse on the ground floor and a boarded door. The windows are irregularly placed wooden casements. The cap and sweeps are missing, although some machinery is reported to still exist. The mill was operated by the Mummery family for 73 years and ceased working in 1936.
