Description
The Swingate Inn is a public house dating from around 1800. It features a rendered exterior and a plain tiled roof. The building has two storeys set on a plinth, with a rusticated ground floor and boxed eaves at the roof, which has stacks positioned at the left end and offset at the right end. On the first floor, there are two canted oriel windows, while the ground floor has three glazing bar sash windows. The central entrance includes a canted porch, which originally had an iron balustrade that is now missing, and a board door to the left. To the left, there is a single-storey outshot, and to the right, a two-storey flat-roofed extension. The name "Swingate Inn" comes from a swing gate that used to be over the road, which was turnpiked in 1797.
