Description

Bere Farmhouse is a pair of houses from the early 18th century that were altered and extended in the early 19th century. The building is constructed of flint with red and buff brick dressings and has plain tiled roofs. It consists of two blocks. The block on the right is from the 19th century, featuring two storeys and a basement, with a roof that is half-hipped to the left. It has stacks located to the centre left and at the end right. On the first floor, there are three glazing bar sash windows in partly blocked openings, and on the ground floor, there are three tripartite sashes along with three basement openings. The block on the left is from the early 19th century and is lower with two storeys, featuring a hipped roof to the left and stacks at the rear left and rear right. This block has four glazing bar sashes on the first floor and two on the ground floor, both with cambered heads. There is a panelled door to the left and a half-glazed door with margin lights to the right, both set in gabled flint-panelled porches. Historically, this building was an ancient manorial house owned by the de Bere family.
