Description

This is a timber-framed building located on Mercery Lane. It appears to date from the 13th century, with a vaulted stone cellar likely originating from that period. The building’s timber frame has been plastered over and features an overhang. Restored mullion and transom windows are present, along with two oriels supported by brackets. Notably, two decorative brackets are carved in the shape of imps. The building forms a group with numbers 1 to 8A on the west side of Mercery Lane, numbers 1 to 9 on Butchery Lane, and numbers 6A and 7 on The Parade. Numbers 10 to 16 also form a group among themselves.
